I use a different screen name to chat than my log in name. How do I change screen names without having to enter a model's room each time to make the menu drop down?

Once you are in the manage screen names area, set the name you want to enter chat with as your default nickname.

The question was how do I change without being in a model's room... to change you name at the moment you must be in a room.. the change is not available except in a room except for the default change that many times you do not require. Please go back to the old way of changing on the login screen

I just gave a little extra advice so you don't have to change it every time.

I just gave a little extra advice so you don't have to change it every time.
i am aware of that NY.. I was not born yesterday lol lol but you still must be in a room to change names "manage screen names" applies at all times unless you are, change user name only becomes available when you are in a room in a room,

Well then maybe you aren't getting a better answer because you are not being clear with what you want to accomplish. If you chat with a different name than you log in with, and you don't want to go into a room to constantly change your name to your chat name, why wouldn't you just manage your chat name so it automatically defaults to the name you want to use when you go into a room?
Customer service told you what to do, so obviously I am not the only one that doesn't understand what the problem is.

NYStingRay, a forum is a place of discussion of a TOPIC, not a place for personal attacks on the other participants.. maybe you should remember the quote from Pope… “A little learning is a dangerous thing; Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring”: Yes I often use many names at the same time, but that is not this question.
Could you please explain to me what is not being clear with this “ "……manage screen names" applies at all times unless you are, { see quote} “change user name” only becomes available when you are in a room in a room.
That was an answer to the original question and a correction to the reply from JG at VS customer services, which at many times miss the target or can be completely incorrect.

I wasn't personally attacking anyone, I was trying to help you with your problem, but obviously you are not being clear with what you are trying to do. If you want to change the name you use to chat before you enter a room go to manage names. Otherwise wait until you get into the room. There are two options, change before entering or change after entering.
