I argued in favour of whispering. Then someone who I thought was on the same side of the debate said that he wanted to whisper as much as he liked. This was just a matter between him and the model, and he didn't care whether he annoyed anyone else.
That made the debate even more interesting, because there was a paradox. Those who were arguing most strongly for whispering started to weaken their own case.
Even though I think that the occasional whisper can be very useful, those who whisper should at least accept that too much whispering spoils the open chat experience for others. Open Chat works best when the chat is open.
I don't know if the compromise solutions (eg whisper limits) are workable. My suggestion was simply to say: "Don't like all this whispering. Bye". The 2 week ban might help to convey a message like: "Too much whispering can damage your health". That alone might be sufficient to bring benefits.
I am sure I can live without whispering for 2 weeks, and may send the odd extra Inbox message if necessary.

this is another good reason to streamline whispering as it makes other customers uncomfortable when some one is whispering to a model about some one in room if you got a pair of balls just say it to the customer you are talking about instead of hiding behind a whisper

If you prefe insults in open chat search for me in most of the americain models rooms. Insults of beggars / spammers / assholes is all in the open for me.
I have been here long enough to remember a time BEFORE whispers and to be honest - the site was BETTER. People are going on about well whispers lets a customer say something to a model thay dont want everyone else to see - well guess what - the fact that said model has to reply on screen or if room has audio verbally - that pretty much negates most of the whole whisper.
IF they keep whisper I will say as before - keep it for contacting site admin / tech support. Quote

I think a better solution would be to maybe limit the amount of times a user can whisper. By limiting the amount of whispers, you deal with the person that spend their whole time in the room whispering to the model. But, at the same time, you still give the user the freedom to ask or tell the model something, that they might not want the whole room to see (asking about something for a private for example).
I think that whispers can serve a useful purpose, if used the way they were intended. I think that the misuse of them has given them a bad name, and has frustrated a lot of users.

this is a sensible way of doing this. we get rid of the abuser an the people that want to use a whisper occasionly have it .

The worst situation is a full conversation that goes on for more than five or 10 minutes. When a model engages a whisperer that long, then I don't feel welcome in the room, and I tend to move on to someone else.
If you do limit it in some way without the models' discretion, then I would say 10 or 20 whispers in a calendar day, followed by: "Sorry, you've reached your whisper limit for today with this model. Please try again tomorrow." Quote
