i wonder does anybody remember the two word name for that? we never hear it in open chat anymore Quote
Back when I was here a lot I somewhat "owned" a model for about 150,000 credits a year. But I never wanted to try to make him exclusive... But I suppose some men are very possessive,
Caution lightning strike, see below "my performer"
I was in constant contact with my performer to help him navigate and respond to cheating and cheap customers. I even kept a running tab of who the best customers were to help him decide whether to give something for free. I was trying to maximize his income outside of my pocket. I also taught him in real time how it is not profitable to give discounted rates.
This speaks to what I mentioned in my first post. Carbon Unit may have had good intentions, he encouraged the performer to engage other members but it was on Carbon Unit's terms. I can understand looking out for a new cam model. Warning them about bad members is one thing but directing them how to respond and what to do is too far. Performers aren't stupid. I have cautioned performers in the past but you know what they respond saying they know that particular member is suspect.
Speaking to the discounted lower rates I'm assuming show offers apply. Several performers have said they allow them because they would rather be in privates longer (earning guaranteed income) than deal with much that occurs in open chat (earning possibly no income). A bird in the hand...
Carbon if you helped that performer, well done. It just seems too much. Quote

Kuiperbelt totally agree with you there. Whispering does have a place on the site, but sad to say it has gone out of control. There seems to be a select group of members who hold performers hostage in whisper mode in fear that they might loose a valued customer. It is further compounded by performers who respond only in whisper for some strange and weird reason. Then they wonder why chatrooms are so quiet ...why talk just whisper. The site will not do anything about it just as long as the $$$ rolls in, but you just have to wonder how many members just might eventually give the site a miss.
It is a real shame because this site has all the qualities of being a very awesome place for everyone.

Asti, you added words I didn't say. Nothing was on my terms. There is a big difference between advice and instruction. When a customer who had never tipped more than 10 credits asked for a 15 minute show for 10 cpm, I advised against it. For 15 minutes, all the performer got was 150 credits, and in those 15 minutes, all his tipping customers left the room. In effect, a likely net loss. Another example: once a customer claimed that if he couldn't get a 5-minute show for 50 credits, his family wouldn't get to have dinner. The model was humanely terrified at that, coming from a 3rd-world country himself. I advised against believing the cheapo customer's claims, but the model did it once anyway. But refused a second discount from the same lying customer. Understand better now? If you think that's too much, that's your freedom of thought. I disagree.

Carbon, on some level we shall agree to disagree. Keeping a "running tab of who the best customers were", you influenced his decision making. If not on your terms, then call it through the lens of your opinion. Though the examples you provide better illustrate your point and anyone would advise a performer in those cases
Guilt-tripping performers to achieve a private is wrong. Having to choose between feeding your family and buying a private show is ridiculous. No matter how naïve the performer, that would send up red flags. His common sense should've rule. Especially being from a third world country he should have been offended by the cheapo's claim. He would know the value of providing for a family in poor circumstances and should have told that member where to go. Quote

Apparently you don't understand someone who isn't accustomed to cheaters/crooks/whatever you might call them, nor do you appear to understand the survival mentality of someone who has had days when his own family had no food but hoped neighbors had some leftovers. He trusted his customers to tell him only the truth, just as he always did in his own life. He asked for my advice regarding Americans and about making more money. I did what he wanted me to do. I can't make you like it, but I did what he asked and wanted me to do for him.

I've only responded to what you wrote but you kept adapting the story. First you gave the advice unsolicited. In response you gave examples of overwhelmingly bad customers, no person would argue they were terrible. Now in this reply the performer asked for your help, you only did "what he wanted me to do". If you started with that maybe your reference to him as "my performer" wouldn't have seemed so, not right.
Don't fault me for the words you used.
In my last post I threw you a bone. Then you replied in the manner in which you did. You have no idea what experiences my past holds. Difficulties it appears you wouldn't know and haven't earned the right to read here. In your own words you spent 150,000 credits one year, approx. $15,000 on one performer alone; if others were visited they most likely received credits too. So don't talk to me about hardships. For that matter don't respond to this unless to apologize. I'm sorry it went this way. We were merely having a discussion but you crossed a line.
My apologies to all the other posters in this thread. The forums should be a place for fun discussion and lively debate. While I questioned a members influence over a performer, I didn't imply anything about his personal life experiences until this last response concerning hardships. Apologies again, gofish this has been a good thread. Quote

dannigirl73 glad to see that you at least do talk in open chat. The option of having the whisper option on or off is always up to the performer so no member should get pissed over this. They have the option of asking the performer to turn it on in a polite way.

Sorry guys but seems this whispering is really getting crazy and sure to be something of a turn off to many members.
Whisper is fine if it is limited, but total chat in whispers really. Why not just hit the private button and whisper away like crazy.
Just a fishy opinion and sure to get a few blasting responses.
I'm in the exact opposite boat. I have to block whispers because then EVERYONE whispers - I can't have 50 members whispering to me at once. Instead I've limited whispering to fanclub members or, better yet, just take me private and have me all to yourself? If all else fails, they can send a email through the site if there is something so important and top secret it can't be typed in the chat room (no such thing). The whispers feature is a thorn in my side.

Good to hear that, Coreymoore
Dannigirl mentioned that several other performers are restricting whispering to fan club members only. I hope that catches on. Perhaps a post in the Studio and Performers forum will help.
It is ironic that you could have 50 guys whispering to you, but the room would appear "dead" and it would look as if you were occupied with other things.
My main concern about excessive whispering is that it appears to have ki11ed off Group Chat. Many successful group chats started when 2 or 3 members suggested it at the same time. Bit difficult if members don't know that other members are there Quote

Ultimately, I really do think models will figure out whispering and other aspects of the site just like Corey has. At least they will if they know they can experiment.
Do performers have their own support forums? Quote

Ronnie whispering might have had a small impact on group chats, but its certain interactive toys have nearly made group chats a thing of the past. Quote

I adapted nothing. I never knew at the outset that you needed a complete history and total explanation of all details. I crossed no line. The thread was friendly until your last post.

Brett, very few of the performers I visit use interactive toys. How have these devices negatively impacted group shows? Is it because they dominate parties and the open room with tipping? Quote

Bravooooo!!!!
No matter how you slice it it is RUDE and inappropriate
and VS should stop it.... Abusing something just
because you can does make you a more obnoxious uneducated selfish
uncaring model or member....
MODELS: Not whispering insures that your prospective
clients/customers/fans etc would have to pay a per minute chat!!
Models now ( old and new) are working 4 times harder
and typing 10 times more than a few years back for a lot less money..
Ask any model here that has been working in this site for at
least 5 or 6 years and they would tell you IT IS MUCH HARDER and a
lot more "tricks" are needed to satisfy the viewers(Ohmybods, pocketpussy,
Fleshlite,whips,chains etc...etc... )...
It used to be easier with just in one site, some lube and fingers to
do the same...
Not to mention the eternal influx of one or two weeks newbies!!!....
But....heyy!!! you need to roll with the punches!!!
The more you do for free and the kinkier the more
viewes will demand for FREE in the future!!!
Just my damn .... .... ..... Quote
