Hope Drifts Deeper

Deep soundings numbness, chorused whale song;
Chittering movement surrounds where no oxygen is
Grinding slowed depth noised f'orced echoes
Cracking basalts crusted nightly measured plumbings
Crushing pressured ruptures sear unidentifiable
Clutching clotted mentions as combinable
Blackness swallows gutted depths constricted
Body tossed compacted in lamented losses.

That moment fluttered quickly where opportunity
Chanced us �join and revel�; if only one or both of us

The lights are dimmed as the smoke rolls in,
encasing the stage and the body within.
Music starts quiet and slow,
speaking to this dancers' soul.

Another set to tease the eye,
and turn on every staring guy.
She looks around to see,
if this crowd holds a she.

Their eyes catch each-others,
and soon they act like lovers.
The men sit back in their chairs,
trying hard not to glare.

Soon the music comes to an end,
the dancer says goodbye to her friend.
With a smile upon her face,
she leaves the stage in grace.

It is 3012...

Women are now unrecognizable to the average man on the street in the mid 2000's. Their breasts kept expanding outwards, nipples elongating, until new legs were needed to support them. Yes... from biped to quadraped. Nobody predicted it.

But the nipples kept getting more sensitive too. So much so that even light breezes would drive the average woman insane with pleasure. There were so many nerve conduits running to them now that lactation, in the days before other structures evolved, lactation could cause horrible electric shocks if care wasn't taken. So the nipples, they had to become capped with child-proof caps, also evolved, not manufactured. Men had to evolve grounding straps in their feet to channel all the current safely away and to ground.

Their lips kept getting fuller, and fuller, and fuller until their mouths couldn't open. This caused immense changes as you can imagine. A new opening for eating under their right ear. A new opening for talking under their left ear. Each was lipless and rimmed with teeth. An extra tongue had to evolve for the speaking opening. The digestive track grew out and connmected directly to the eating opening so that speaking and eating could be accomplished at the same time.

Their butts grew and grew. Their hips too. Their waists became narrower, narrower and still narrower. Till at last they evolved an arch right in their middle that allowed empty space to exist in the midriff. This, plus the enormous bandwidth that their new sexual organs required, caused them to go wireless in the transmitting of pleasure shocks to the brain.

Yes instead of a single pleasure zone, their entire azimuthal circumpherance was ringed with pairs of coupled cavities and clitorii, in some women it could be 37 separate functioning units. Just as in magnetrons these cavities could resonate together causing an orgasm begun locally to feed an intense coherent ring of increasing power and delight.

Inerestingly enough the only change to the legs was for the kneecap to rotate to the other side of the knee and to change the direction of the joint. This allowed the woman to do some gymnastical feats that only the most limber of her ancestors could pull off.

The changes are too immense to catalog in one sitting. But you can well appreciate at least how wrong the early evolutionists were to predict stasis in the human species....

It is amazing how fast other branches of science respond when one makes a great leap forward:

Today the world is buzzing with the news of a great find in the jungles of Peru. An ancient indian tribe, the Tinkas, built an enormous temple to what was thought to be a god in their pantheon. At the foot of their great pyramid, of their capitol city, was an immense statue that was thought to depict the deity.

To our eyes it resembles 37 gigantic dolphins humping an enormous can of tuna with sexy legs, four of them. One of the dolphins appears to be on fire, the cause of which seems to be that one of his flippers is in contact with what appears to be a very strong, roundish battery. The can of tuna and the burning dolphin both seem to be enjoying the experience.

Needless to say this work has been the subject of many wild, and ultimately unsuccessful theories. But with our breakthrough in predictive evolutionary biology, the mystery has been cleared up and replaced with another: just how did the Tinkas get their hands upon a time machine? Or are our descendants going to be time travelers?

He sat in the cafe lost in thought. Dipping his biscuit in his tea. As he dipped it, all kinds of memories came forth without his bidding.

His childhood came forth again vividly. His dog. Hurts. Triumphs. Forgotten friends.

He stirred his cup, sighing.

It was then that he noticed the periscope jutting out of his cup. It was the only warning he got! He wasted valuable seconds wondering if it was part of some kind of fantasy, whether he was losing his mind.

But then... FWOOOOOOOOOOOOSHHHHHHHHHH KAAAAAAAAAZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMM!!!

The two ooze-dripping, death mantisses grinned widely at each other and circled nearer...

Antennas waving hecticly in the still, fetid air of the dark, dark mating hole...

Standing with expectent slouches on their thorny glistening haunches...

Working out in their tiny but oh so fast working minds whether it would be new life or death...

This time...

Whether tis better to release a new clutch of ravenous larvae upon a summer lulled world...

Or whether tis better to spend passion in fierce, frenzied battle, battle to leave the walls of this fever den splotched phosphorescently green... with hairs and broken, thorny, ridges glued in...

As their microscopically warted bodies came together a shriek so high in pitch was raised that only dogs, dogs a hundred times their size heard and in hearing turned their heads on end in wincing pain.

Tongues licked eyes...

Mandibles squeezed...

Thoraxes extended and pressed...

Green fluid sloshed and sloshed against ceratanous walls...

Static shocks visible and bent by surface tension wicked around and through...

A loud *crack* announced that one exoskeleton had been pressed too far...

Fluid did flow, not orangeish yellow but full Tommyknocker green...

A grin became frozen...

And the last mantiss standing decided it was indeed time for BOTH a death AND a clutch from a recently vanquished foe!

And the terrible night was filled with such horrible sounds and sights as made the poor hundred times advantaged dogs positively HOWL!!!!!

The raging night eventually, much much later, so understated an eventually, eased into a moon-lit quiet...

A thin, tiny shadow emerged from a dark opening and started to weave its way down the silvery moon graced path. The night was so quiet now. No cricket sounds. Certainly no bird chirrups.
That it was immediately obvious to all still living creatures in this locality when the little figure started to sing:

"They said Mantiss" ...

"I said wot"

"She needs Mantiss"

"I said wot"

"Do it do it Mantiss"

"I said wot"

"Oh yeah Mantiss"

"I said: wot you WANTAHHHHHHHH"

But now suddenly the night changed rapidly as if an ambush had been laid and now sprung...

God: Mantiss!!!!

Mantiss: Wot?

God: I have been thinking about you!

Mantiss: Wot?

God: You were once my favorite creation. I made you the epitome of ...

Mantiss: Wot?

God: That should be obvious. But something has been nagging at me. Gnawing.

Mantiss: Wot?

God: I left something out. And now I know what it is.

Mantiss: Wot?

God: It came to me as I watched one of those annoying Hollywood award ceremonies.

Mantiss: Wot?

God: I think it was the Golden Globes. I was watching the host...

Mantiss: Wot?

God: You know, doing his monologue. He comes out and goes: Whaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzzuuuuup!

Mantiss: Wot?

God: Whaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzzuuuuup!

Mantiss: .

God: Good. I really was ready to smite you if you tried to get me to say it again. This annoying bit was old the very first time I saw it and each time I have seen it since it has made me angrier and angrier and angrier until, believe it or not, I transcended things once again and came to an even higher level of enlightenment. I realize this never happens during "negative" emotions in legends but then again maybe in this case my anger was not negative in the traditional sense. I have learned many things and one is to never question a good enlightenment.

Mantiss: .

God: Ah you are on the path to wisdom my lad. And the first thing I learned during this critical life-event was the thing I didn't give you to make you truly perfect.

I mean your bauplane is like no other. From your eyes, to your mandibles, to your powerful claws and your antennii. Perfection my dear... just perfection.

Except...

Watch this!

A surge of mystical energy broke forth and smote Mantiss full in his being and he reeled backwards towards the Void only to save himself from pitching over by his strong claws digging into clay'd soil.

"Woooooooooothhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." he shrieked.

"Woth? Wfffthhhhh?!? Wothhtppppppthhhhhhhhhh"

God: That's right. You now have a ... TONGUE!!!

And what a wicked, long, leathery tongue did the Almighty bestow upon the powerful beast and thus ensured that his form was perfection, perfection incarnate here... here on this perch above the Void....
