Prior to winning the Olympic Gold Medal, Price had standout moments in a canadian uniform at the 2007 IIHF World Junior Championship when he backstopped Canada to gold. Price started and won all six games, including two shutouts, en route to being named the tournament MVP, Best Goaltender and a media all-star.
Price had previously represented Canada at the 2005 IIHF Under-18 World Championship, winning silver.
All the junior hockey sucess doesn't mean squat in the NHL. Nearly all players accomplished something in juniors. The reality is (a relatively average player) Krieder (17 goals in 2013-14) ''accidentally on purpose'' injured (an all-star) Price who is now officially out of Game 2. Quote

Michel Therrien has decided to go with the big-game pedigree of Dustin Tokarski over the veteran poise of Peter Budaj (296 regular season games, 0-2 in seven career playoff games). Tokarski (10 NHL games in 3 seasons) was the starting goaltender for Canada at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship and helped that team win the gold medal, stopping 39 of 40 shots in a 5-1 win against Sweden in the championship game. He also played for the Prince Albert Minots (2006); that team captured the Telus Cup, Canadas midget hockey championship.
The cold hard truth is MTL wouldn't have won the Stanley Cup without Ken Dryden in goal in 1971, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, & 1979 or Patrick Roy in 86 & 93.
Price is out for the series. Quote
