Yeah... we just celebrated Worldwide Women's Day.

I just heard that International Men's Day was 1 month earlier. No one mentioned that. I got squat!

I mean I haaaaate to sound, I don't know, well, I hate to make a fuss but is it really too
much to ask for a little special loving on our day? Just one day a year?

Have you ever stopped and thought about just how much the men in your life do for you? With no complaining. No tears. Just steady, uncomplaining, endeavoring... endeavoring for you.

I guess the Beatles were wrong... They got all sentimental for nothing... There is nothing but work, sweat and tears for those with spermsticks... those with the curse o' the one eyed eel, those who have deep resonences in their voice boxes designed to please the tweety of the species.

But no more... Brothers rise! Shake off those hurtful chains! They can hurt us no more!

You see these... *points to his mantle* These are my International Men's Day socks. I followed the tradition, some 2000 years old, I hung them up on the 'Eve. And look at them.

Empy, empty, empty, coal, coal, empty, herring, coal, coal, coal, coal, aaaaaand empty.

I guess Heather Hooters skipped my place this year. Figures. Only holiday celebrity who has been to rehab. Just going through the motions now. Skipping some of those 12 steps.

Well I'd go with some friends for some caroling but, you guessed it, noone wants to go. No one wants to. Too busy getting ready for Women's day - the parade, the floats, the smorgasboard...

I guess i'll drink my beer here alone in the dark and brood. They can never take that away from us. The good old brood!

. brood .

lol at alt def for brood. It is okay, I love the primary def too much to be scared by implications of misunderstandings. Athos... Athos... tavern... tavern... The high pitched squeals fade away... they fade... even as my ball sack begins its age induced retreat to safety.

And you remind me of another male power word: basement. Here in Cali we don't have 'em, mostly. So we tend to forget what we may have had earlier in our lives. The space, that cold dark space, in which mechanical and chemical things hulked... Where bikini clad babes hung on cement walls perhaps crinkled some from powerful experiments that released vast amounts of energy. The Glorious Male, as impressive as any Jurassic Park tyrannosaur, raised up on his hind legs, with massive guns throbbing, letting loose his primal territory claiming grunt - scream.

Yes the baeement. Sound-proof mostly. Shock proof. Easy to clean. Near to high voltages and to fuse boxes. Crammed full of your most exotic insects... made albino by the quirks of fate and chromosome chain breaking manly forces. Our pit of creativity, our ancestral home, our vale in the forest....

The druids had to climb and then sickle. We merely descend into the blackness and bring the unshaded light. Oh and if our arms are weary it is because they are full of hardware shop goods. Our drills whine. Our saws cut. The sawdust rises. The shavings, metal, fall glowing to the floor. Our weld light blinds the albino freaks that try to hide in the corners of our lair. Their antennai wave in the fields we generate from our massive electro-magnets and charged beams. Free electron lasers dump crap-loads of energy that we make so coherent in the random noise field.

WE.... ARE........ GODS.......

Well fuck it! I'm taking the day off! No more responsibilities on these narrow shoulders!

Just gonna let this nasty old world take care of itself. Gonna drink some goood beer that I still have from Paddy's day. Gonna lay out in that Spring sun.

Fucking boss thinks I buy his promotion bullshit? He may not have forgotten Men's day but I can see that his tongue is... just... as... forked.

Narrator: What are YOU doing here? Haven't YOU done enough already?
Look at the poor man. The poor dear man. The poor, big hearted kitten of a man.

*sigh*

He'll sleep it off. And then I'll get to work on him. You'll see. We'll start from scratch. Build him up again. Just like new. You'll see. You and your... well you'd better be going now. Let him sleep. Good, no we don't need that. Just keep walking. Fine.

And so it came to pass that Ride entered a kind of model induced fatalism...

It opened his eyes a little wider and allowed him to traverse a hereto unknown plane...

It was a weary plane, a weary plane, covered by a weary grayness and stretching out a weary distance.

He realized it was another test. He wondered how it would match those passed earlier. The Logical Absolutes were not here. No, here was flat terrain, fog, and a damp kind of coldness that was antiseptic in its uncaring...

He thought of Justice... The kind meted out by tyrants... Or perhaps that subset of tyrants that were utterly devoid of emotion. The so called cold fish of the 70s spy thrillers for example. They took. They killed. They ate the smaller fish and called it right. Cloaked in a joyless patriotism as dull and grey as this plane.

Now Ride paused. He grinned. For he remembered that he had been passing through the desert flowers prior to arriving in this strange place. So his inner pockets had seeds. He took out some seeds and planted them in the grey brittle soil. He watered them from a canteen pulled from his inner recesses. Drip.. drip.. drip....

The transformation was quick enough to indulge anyone's need for instant gratification. Up shot a whole field of wild flowers making the grey groan and retreat as if beset by a ravenous horde. Ride watched with a twisted grin as the flowers spread at unheard of rates and devoured all the grey topsoil, and dispersed the fog, letting him see the now properly blue sky of a healthy environment.

So dies the modern tyrant... Choked by flowers...

Buckaru: Oh that we now had here
But one ten thousandth of those men that do no work today!
Ride: What's he that wishes so? Even you Buckaru? No,
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our gender loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
By Teutatis! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Belenos, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It annoys me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my friend, wish not a man more:
I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Buckaru, throughout our host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And bills for convoy put into his wallet
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called Men's Day:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Men's Day.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Men's Day:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Men's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Ride the mountie, Buckaru and Perfect Tommy,
ChickenHeart and Rex Requiem, Richelieu and our Lord Protector,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Men's Day shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his bl00d with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Men's day.

And so the Great Crimson Fleet returns safely to berth after completing its glorious mission. Not a buoy was lost. Victory complete! Our day, our legacy... preserved.

No tyrant shall ever wrest this from our grasp! No collection of tyrants, no matter how organized nor how extensive! Our manhood reigns unchallenged, unmolested, and in such a confident state that though our chests are covered, and no antlers peek from out our canvas, virility of such strength flows through all that spontaneous football matches break out everywhere, games of roman knuckles, and red searing indian burns. Deep deep the victory hymn goes with brass and drum, no flute confusing the matter...

No shows of false modesty. No fake courtesies. This is our time and it shall not be spent with in laws, nor new cuddly pets. All additions to the family this day had better know how to swim in cold lakes pursuing our game, had better be able to bring meat to the table, base to our war songs... No curl to our natural flowing hair... No color but those burned in by sun. No smells but of game and engine oil...

Ahhhh the ancestral spirits rise once again in our bl00d. Fire swirls in our visions. Our teeth glint with light from camp fires. Our pockets are containers of metal objects, tools, each with some concrete survival purpose... Rum replaces wine. Bisquick replaces poppuri. Galvanized rubber replaces touleries.

Iron. Steel. Sweat. Concrete. Our monuments do start in their foundations with these...

I could not access because I have forgotten how to log into yewtube for the case of controversial content. I have a hunch it would have been disturbing to my delicate complexion. I will continue to let others filter for me until I suspect a disturbing input that is more in my favor...
